GOOD NEWS Debian 13 is coming

That Sangoma are not telling the truth about why they are not producing FreePBX 17 based on Trixie
Sangoma saying they haven't tested Trixie yet is them lying? Sure, OK. Not really sure why they would even need to move to Trixie for FreePBX v17 considering that they would have to downgrade and backport to Bookworm stuff to make sure there would be no major breakage for people when they ran an update. Why even bother at that point?

What I find interesting here is that if Sangoma moved to Trixie on FreePBX v17 based on the same amount of time @kenn10 put into it the first issue/bug/problem that surfaced there would be pitchforks and torches being handed out to storm the castle. But some how @kenn10 doing under 48 hours of testing shows how TangoPBX can change their distro to Trixie and that Sangoma is lying.

I'm not disparaging @kenn10 for the work done because kudos for doing the work so far but it's not enough to be declaring FreePBX v17 is Trixie ready. I mean that is unless you've downgraded everything back to versions being run on Bookworm. Again, what would be the point of it all if that is the case?

I spun up Debian-13 on a VirtualBox VM since none of my providers for cloud VM's are offering Debian-13 yet. I can put up my modified IncrediblePBX script if someone wants to play with it. No promises it will work outside of my VM environment. As I mentioned, I've not spent time trying to troubleshoot Fail2Ban but moving the Debian-12 config files to the new install brought it to life. Thanks to @Samot for pointing me to the correct Webmin install procedure.

This is the link to the install script: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/rzm0...ey=armt5moy58tt5co82w3xe3dom&st=y1iz0icc&dl=0

And this is the notes file of what I did to load Debian-13 and changes that had to be made to the IncrediblePBX-2025 install script to accommodate Debian-13: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/0bp7...ey=9odphndh257enpur1gmyfqgam&st=90t6ecyj&dl=0

converting my Bookworm VPSes using the above.

@Samot congratulations for being the first person on my ignore list.

Hm, something in the install script added Bookworm sources.
Installed on a 768MB RAM, 12GB SSD 1 CPU Racknerd Special from 2021.
I cannot recommend running this on less than 1GB RAM and 20GB SSD, it's like wading through molasses.

I don't think I'd run it for production for sure. Its probably not even good enough for testing. I'm really going to pigeonhole this for now. It was just an exercise to see how bad things would break on Debian-13 but I don't see any advantage to moving to a Debian-13 platform any time soon.

I'm sure there is plenty broken with that install script. I spent maybe five hours total messing with it.

@Samot congratulations for being the first person on my ignore list.

I used to have some very talented programmers that worked for me, but we wouldn't take them out in public.

I think @Samot means well but, like me, his social graces probably could benefit from a little fine tuning. It's never too late. We all have things we can work on, and we probably all need to try a little harder. Amazing things could happen with a bit more focus.
