I recall on early implementations of pbx in a flash and I believe in trixbox CE, as well, that when I would setup a new extension, the entry for that user in the directory would be added. A colleague of mine remembers this, as well. If I'm not mistaken, what happened to this functionality? It's a headache to remember to go into the directory with every new extension. Is this something that can be re-implemented?

Don't have a box in front of me, but I'm pretty sure there's an option in the Directory module to set a default directory, and a corresponding directory option in Extension settings to add to default. I'd have to double check though.

Also depends on what FreePBX versions you're running. Post the output of `status` please.

Edit: Yup. I was correct. Applies to FreePBX 2.11
In each extension, there's a box for this:

Just set a default directory in the directory module.

Ah-ha! Brilliant, thank you! I'm running 2.10:

FreePBX Version = 2.10.1.16

And after setting the Default Directory, I do see the include\exclude setting. I think this will help a-lot, thank you Ross!

Say, is there any way to have the default value for the "default directory" drop down menu be "include" rather than "exclude"?

I was looking for that very same thing. Didn't have any luck.
