Ok, I have a system up and running, with extensions, ring group, after hours, directory, etc...

I want the ability to have a caller leave a message in a general mailbox(they don't want a certain person or department). The person that will be checking this mailbox, already has her own mailbox x150.

So here is what I am thinking;

1. Create a new extension x100.
2. caller leaves message at x100.
3. person that already has extension(x150), but is responsible for general mailbox, add a 2nd line to her phone(gxp-2160), so same phone has
account 1 = ext 150 -her own
account 2 = ext 100 - general mailbox

This way when she comes in in the morning, if there is a message at x150 or x100 she will have a voicemail indicator and can get.

Does this make sense or is there a better way?

thanks for any help,
Brian

If you are using an IVR with an option to leave a message, then make your options recording saying to press digit x to leave a message
In the ivr entries for the desired digit enter for the destination from the drop down select- voicemail - , then select -ext 150 (no-msg)- from the drop down.
When that digit is pressed, the caller will be dropped directly in mailbox 150 without playing any greeting.
