I noticed on my Gmail account that the Less secure apps section has a notice that it will no longer be available after May 30, 2022. Will this affect IncrediblePBX machines using Gmail for voicemail to email?

Google is changing lots of shit. They also at same time line are going to stop those of us that have always had the grandfathered apps and email under our own domain that always used to be free. It's got to be such a small amount that I can't see that it will affect their bottom line, but they certainly are going to F**(@ over some people in the process.

I guess we need to figure out how to use Comcast as a relay again. I don't have Comcast anymore but I still have my email accounts there.

I don't think our Gmail Relay solution depends upon Less Secure Apps. This was required in the Google Voice registration days.

I hope that's true. I've not gotten any email from Google about it nor is there any indication of it on my less secure apps page in my account.

Not sure Comcast relays are still supported. They blamed it on spammers.

So long as Google doesn't screw things up, we're OK. If not, someone will need to create an IncrediblePBX Mail Relay. ;)

I never dug into how but VitalPBX somehow handles email without any interaction from the user.

move to the cloud and setup your own mail server, and configure sendmail to relay to your email server if Google does screw things up

Does anyone know if my cloud 'sendmail ubuntu 20.04' App Key should work on exim4 on Pi4 ??
To answer my own question - Well it does for the moment

I don't think our Gmail Relay solution depends upon Less Secure Apps. This was required in the Google Voice registration days.
Click the link to see in RPi Tutorial "Configuring Gmail as Exim Smart Relay Host"
"You also must enable Less Secure Apps access to your Gmail account."

IncrediblePBX Mail Relay
Maybe an "IncredibleMailRelay"

For RPi incrediblepbx 2020 with exim4 this is just to edit the example provided in the default passwd-client file.
Bash:
sed -i 's@ target.mail.server.example:login:[email protected]:[email protected]:Acct_App_Key@' /etc/exim4/passwd.client

Tutorial -Reconfigure email for SmartHosts with Sendmail ( or Exim4 on the Pi )
Bash:
# Get ready with you email address and your gmail Accnt_APP_KEY
# Now edit the line below replacing those with your actual Acct-Name and actual Acct_App_Key
echo "smtp.gmail.com:[email protected]:Acct_App_Key" >> /etc/exim4/passwd.client
Now create the code to update your exim4 credentials
Bash:
echo '#!/bin/bash
update-exim4.conf
systemctl restart exim4
exim4 -qff' > /root/update-exim4-credentials

Edit the code below with your actual gmail AccntName, (the bit before the '@'; and
then send yourself a testmessage and check it arrived.
Bash:
echo "test" | mail -s test message [email protected] && echo "A test message has been sent to the smart host"
