In the tutorial for adding a GTI SIM card extension - http://nerdvittles.com/?p=32723 - the information for entering into the Incoming tab of SIP settings is no longer correct.

I just got off the phone with my support agent there and he said that they are no longer using registration, as the connections are all based on the connection from or to the static IP of the phone system.

In addition, the information needed for Incoming details is no longer valid:

host=xxxxxxx.mvnoserver.com
context=from-trunk
type=friend
port=xxxxx

This line (with the actual port and host address) were emailed to me after I completed getting the SIM card purchased.

The Outgoing information, similarly, is changed, but as I'm not using them for outgoing call termination, I don't have that information handy. They did send it to me as part of my support ticket for getting my SIM card purchased, so if you're using them for outgoing call termination, they will be different than the tutorial as well.

GTI Mobile has changed their instructions many times on how to set everything up. Best advice is to just follow what their support agent recommends. Even so, I've had seen their own documents and support tech contradict each other. The setup was messy in my case and I still had trouble sometimes.

They have a very friendly and helpful support staff, just open a ticket and they will respond quickly.

I'm really interested in trying out this service and was wondering, does anyone know if the deal described in the Nerd Vittles link the OP posted is still valid? Wanted to check before performing the sign-up process as it mentions no refunds. Also, anyone have any comments on how well it works and if it's worth it to you?

I'd be surprised if it isn't still available. It works, its just a matter of getting it setup properly on their portal. It all just depends on your requirements. For example, the reason I needed it was I had a PI lawfirm that didn't want employees having to use their own mobile phones and afraid that a case could walk when they left (and they knew it happened at least once). ... By providing the phone with SIM that is integrally linked to the PBX, the CDR's are on the PBX, the calls could be recorded on the PBX, and of course any outbound calls would show the CID of the office. It's just easier to use for those that aren't very technical. For one with a bit of technical knowhow ... I think the Softphone option is pretty solid. Plus, if they use the office phone SIM, then they may need to carry two cell phones (one for office, one for personal).
