I tried searching the forums for an answer... I am fairly certain it is here somewhere, but I did not find it...

I am running PBX in a flash (Incredible PBX 1..0.192.19) on my raspberry pi... it is working fine, except I know need to get SMS messages... I have noticed I have been billed for a few of them, so I am assuming some clients are sending SMS to my main line... that has happened before, so I do want this capability.

I see the directions on the Anveo site, but when I looked at the sip.conf file it has a header that state the changes needed to be made via the gui... where is that done?

The Anveo directions are posted below... if you could tell me where to enter each part I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance...

sip.conf

Append the following to the end of sip.conf

[anveo]
type=peer
host=sip.anveo.com
port=5010
username=ACCOUNT_NUMBER
secret=password
insecure=port,invite
disallow=all
allow=ulaw
allow=alaw
allow=g729
dtmfmode=rfc2833
context=from-anveo

Locate [general] secion and add the following
register => ACCOUNT_NUMBER:[email protected]:5010

**** the "register => ACCOUNT_NUMBER:[email protected]:5010" statement should be the first thing under [general]

extensions.conf

Append the following dial plans to the end of extension.conf and customize them according to your needs.

[from-anveo]
exten => s,1,Verbose(Incoming SMS from ${CALLERID(num)})
exten => s,n,Answer
exten => s,n,Set(SMSINRAW=${MESSAGE(body)})
exten => s,n,Set(SMSIN=${URIENCODE(${SMSINRAW})})
exten => s,n,NoOp(Saving SMS message to a file)
exten => s,n,Set(FILE(/var/spool/asterisk/sms/${STRFTIME(${EPOCH},,%F-%T)}-${CALLERID(num)}-${EXTEN}.txt,a)=${MESSAGE(body)})
exten => s,n,Hangup

[smsdial]
exten => 1,1,NoOp(Sending a Message)
exten => 1,n,Set(MESSAGE(body)=Hello)
exten => 1,n,MessageSend(sip:<[email protected]:5010>,<ACCOUNT_NUMBER_ONLY>)

Seems to me that what they are asking you to put in extensions.conf you need to place in extensions_custom.conf

One of the big advantages with Anveo is that you can route incoming SMS/MMS messages directly to a cell phone. You can route individually by DID if you choose. For me, that's a lot easier than trying to route it through the PBX. Just use the SMS tab on the Edit DID screen.

Are you referring to anveo or anveodirect? I am using anveo direct...

Anveo Direct. You can send the DID's SMS to a telephone number or a URL.

I just ported my Anveo-Direct DID's to another vendor so I can't look at the screens but if I recall correctly, you can put a telephone number instead of the URL in the URL field or there is a drop down that lets you select URL or TN.

In fact, I miss that feature with my new DID vendor and have submitted a feature request to them for that ability.

But then how do you reply back?

You can but it comes from you cell number and not from the DID. On the cell phone, it looks like the sms came directly to your cell number. Its convenient for giving a number to the bank, Amazon, etc. for 2FA without giving up your actual cellular number that then gets sold to spammers.

I know... old thread, but I did try to put a cell number instead of an URL in the SMS forward area and it only gives an error about the URL being invalid...
