The good news is the installation script has been corrected - thanks Joe Roper! It's now safe and sane to begin using the HylaFax / AvantFax for PBXIAF!

i think i still had some left overs from the previous installation, and now there are some errors when running the updated script... please try to help...

Avantfax is covered by its own security, the credentials are admin / password
You will be prompted to change the root password, then you can add other users
Point a DID at the custom destination, FAX (Hylafax) which has been created for
you in FreePBX. Outbound faxing will go out via the normal trunks
nv-faxdetect has not been added in this install, so DID cannot be shared between
extensions and faxes
A Hylafax webmin module has been placed in /var/pbx_load//hylafax_mod-1.8.2.wbm.gz
This is added via Webmin | Webmin Configuration | Webmin Modules | From Local File

i was able to remove hylafax and now the modems are starting corectly... however, i have an issue with avantfax. i think this is because it was installed too many times...

Why did you have to run it again, all you had to do was delete 4 lines.

If IAXModem/Hylafax/Avantfax is already installed, then you should inspect and modify this script, or your installation before executing it.

Is this phrase familiar?

I'd say that Hylafax was now comprehensively missing.

Open the script in a word processor, and follow it through line by line seeing what it does, and make sure each component is place.

I would like to know if there is something we can do for detecting fax on Zap and IAX channel, because i have a Zap fax line, but i would like to use it as a backup line in case my IAX trunk fail, but i need ax detection on it, i have try the Zaptel fax detection, but it doesn't seems to workm, if someone have any how to it would be really appreciated thanx!

Is it possible to have a Hylafax Clients for Windows Vista, because the one in this tutorials doesn't work, i got an error when i click install in the small windows where i have install and desinstall, if i click install, i got this erroe:

Does somone now how to repair this error, ot have another good client to suggest me?

Search the forums for Dandyfax as an alternative, or have a look on the winprint forms for a resolution.

Quick question. I have successfully installed the HALYFAX application on my PBXinaFlash server, but I see that the CLID that HALYFAX is trying to send is "Fonica PABX" <+00000000002>.

Of course, since I am sending faxes through a PSTN, this caller ID will not be passed, but this is being recorded on the CDR of FreePBX, so is there a way to change this to reflect the correct CLID and source of the fax? Thanks for the help.

Found The Answer ...

A little reading and experimenting goes a long way. For anyone else suffering from my same issue, you can modify the IAXMODEM definitions by going into:

/etc/iaxmodem

You will see 4 files in there, and they when you open them, they will look as follows:

cidname Fonica PABX
cidnumber +00000000000
codec ulaw

Modify only the fields cidname and cidnumber to comply with you correct information, that way when you go to the RECORDS tab in FreePBX, you will see the correct information rather than the default configuration that Joe provided, which by the way, it is an excellent configuration and superb application.....THANKS A LOT FOR THAT

Now, I have embarked on a different journey trying to get rid of the AVANTFAX link that is sent on every e-mail notification from teh system. If anyone knows how to change this, please post it here.

Hi

The script was adapted from the FonicaPABX/Foncordiax Script, so hence the reason for some incorrect branding for PIAF.

As an aside, Tony has put avantfax into production - http://www.fonicaprojects.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12

In respect of the cover page, it does not look too scary:-

Note that as well as other commercial programs, another Open Source favourite, GIMP, will create the eps file.

In respect of the email, I'm guessing, but it looks likely that changing around line 187 of config.php in /var/www/html/avantfax/includes should do what you need it to do.

edit: - looking again, local_config.php may be more appropriate - line 238. Try this first.

I have had great success faxing from my Powerbook through an SPA2102 - I am seeing Intermittent results with hylafax. Quality is phenomenal. Not being able to send every time is the kicker.

Occasionally receive error "No carrier detected" - just sometimes.... confusion.

Will continue to test, thanks for the great script / tut!

Hello Joe,

No complains about the branding of something that you created, you are entitled to that and a lot more, just adjusting it to my needs.

I use my PBXiaFlash server for a home/office environment, and even though I am a one man show, I like my customers to thing that I am running a MILLION DOLLAR ENTERPRISE..... it just make them feel that much more comfortable.... I am assuming that you can relate to this a lot.

I will check on the branding of the avantfax cover page sometime today; thanks a lot for the tip. I do not want to take anything away from avantfax, but I will like their logo to be just a little smaller.

Once again, I cannot thank you and Tony enough for this phenomenal script, and excellent fax application.

P.S. Nice posting from Tony on your forum, I really hope that the customer realizes the full potential of the "fax server" they have on premises, and this opens the door for you guys.

It was not really branding, just a placeholder.

The Avant fax cover page is designed to be changed, and I would not agree that you have to leave this on when you send faxes to customers.

A well known phrase we refer to as the "Blowfish effect" making yourself look bigger than you really are.

Hylafax/Avantfax - Change header for different users

I would like to be able to change the fax header based upon the id of the user connecting to hylafax/avantfax. I thought about changing the header info on each of the 4 iaxmodems that are defined but I don't know how to limit a particular user to a particular iaxmodem. Has anyone figured this out. I have been working my way through the hylafax/avantfax mailing list archives with no success so far.
