Hi,

I've installed IncrediblePBX2021 (Debian) and all is working for inbound and outbound voice calls (Phonepower account) but I can't seem to figure out why faxing isn't working (fax was installed per the instructions at https://nerdvittles.com/a-new-year-introducing-incredible-pbx-2021-for-debian-10/).

First issue, during the fax software installation there was a message that appeared stating the user would need to enter an area code for faxes, however the installation completed without ever asking for the area code. After the fax software installation and a reboot of the pbx the IAX fax modems do show as peers. I next tried, using Avantfax, sending a fax to the HP test fax number (888-473-2963). Avantfax's 'Outbox' shows the following;

JID Priority User Company Pages Dials TTS Status
3 121 AvantFAX Admin 8884732963 0:1 6:12 08:31 Busy signal detected

The Asterisk logfile shows;

Code:

I especially do not understand why I am getting this line in the log;

51373[2021-06-24 08:28:33] WARNING[1114][C-00000009] chan_sip.c: Received response: "Forbidden" from '<sip:[email protected]>;tag=as04c2e6c9'

Anyone have any ideas? As a 'sanity check' I set up another instance of IncrediblePBX2021 (Debian) on different hardware and got the same results.

Thanks,

Ken

Be sure you have set CallerID number for your PhonePower trunk. They may reject calls without a valid CallerID entry.

Hi, yes I have the caller ID set in the trunk. Outbound voice calls work, Inbound voice and fax calls work, it's just outbound faxes that do not work. I've been using Advantfax (admin user) to try to send a fax to a fax test number (Cannon 8553922666 or HP 8884732963). In the Advantfax admin user profile I also set the fax number (2146789867). I keep seeing this message in the asterisk logfile whenever I use the Avantfax send fax menu option;

That's a telltale sign of missing CallerID. Check the logs and see if any other hints are there. Otherwise, contact your provider. They are the ones rejecting the calls. Perhaps there's some hint at their end.

Set your outbound caller ID;

please take a look at these files and a reboot will be needed after the edits:

/etc/iaxmodem/iaxmodem-cfg.ttyIAX0
/etc/iaxmodem/iaxmodem-cfg.ttyIAX1
/etc/iaxmodem/iaxmodem-cfg.ttyIAX2
/etc/iaxmodem/iaxmodem-cfg.ttyIAX3

Change the cidname and cidnumber values

The above will help display correct info in CDR for outgoing calls and not send zeros as the outbound CID to your sip trunk and therefore your sip provider will not reject the call since you will have a valid number format.

Hi Prits, thank you so much! After applying the edits you suggested outbound faxing is now working:)

Before reading your post I had configured a virtualbox instance of IncrediblePBX using the sourceforge ova file, configured it with my PP trunk and tested inbound/outbound faxing which worked.

After I made the edits on my problem system and confirmed inbound/outbound faxing was working I checked the iaxmodem-cfg files on the virtualbox system and the cidname and cidnumber values were 'Incredible PBX' and '+00000000000', the same as the values in my problem system before I made the edits you suggested. No idea of why the problem system iaxmodems didn't work initially, possibly some error I didn't catch during the initial setup when I ran the incrediblefax2020-debian10.sh script.

@keniskb , thank you for the update!

I am happy for you that it is working for you now!

Note, you did nothing incorrect... when you installed incrediblefax, the default values are what are installed and you did not miss anything or not catch anything. ;);)
