I can see that, .. what about some sort of migration? How funky would it be to backup an 12 installation and migrate over to a 13? Seems like there are some good features in 13 that would be desirable, ..

It's been covered here many times, do some searches. Bottom line - bulk save your DID's and EXT's, import them and copy / paste. Another option would be to get your FreePBX version the same on both and then do a backup/restore. YMMV
