If anyone is interested in knowing how I installed my 32 bit legacy machine here comes the full recipe.
Some additional installs turned out to be necessary as the 32 bit Ubuntu distro has changed quite a bit between its first iteration and the 6th over the years. (and most importantly the repositories now hold different versions of php)
I initially used an older version from my junk box which allowed me to install with fewer headaches. But when I tried to use the latest mini ISO (because I messed up my install doing foolish things) all the php issues showed up.
The following steps allow for a clean install without requiring any modifications to Ward's original scripts.
(There are many places to get php 5.6 but I prefered taking it from an Ubuntu PPA to ensure that all dependency issues were addressed automatically)
So without further ado:
How to install IncrediblePBX13-13.10 on Ubuntu 18.04 32 bit ?
1) Make sure that the network connection works on the target machine (PBX host).
2) Install Ubuntu 18.04 32bit from the latest mini ISO cd, which installs version 18.04.6.
3) Reboot. Create root user. Login as root.
4) ifconfig will be missing. To install it:
sudo apt install net-tools
5) php5 will be missing. To install it:
sudo apt install software-properties-common
then
sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa
:ondrej/php
sudo apt update
sudo apt install php5.6
reboot
6) Install IncrediblePBX per Ward's instructions:
cd /root
wget
http://incrediblepbx.com/incrediblepbx-13-13.10U-LEAN.tar.gz
tar zxvf incrediblepbx-13-13.10U-LEAN.tar.gz
# No need to create swap as Ubuntu installation took care of it.
./Incredible*
Reboot (happens automatically)
cd /root
./Incredible*
7) Finally do the following (always per Ward's instructions):
-Create an admin password for GUI access: /root/admin-pw-change
-Create an admin password for Apache web access: htpasswd /etc/pbx/wwwpasswd admin
-Configure the correct timezone for your server: /root/timezone-setup
-Retrieve your PortKnocker setup like this: cat /root/knock.FAQ
-Add IPtables WhiteList entries for remote access: /root/add-ip or /root/add-fqdn
8) Reboot
9) Check out the PBX GUI webpage as well as Webmin page. They should both be working.
10) Add a couple of extensions and a trunk (+ routes). Incoming, outgoing, extension to extension - should all work.
