NEW Lenny Is Back for Incredible PBX 2020

Sure, here is my flow, you should be able to find the applicable menu's:
Incoming Route-->Call Recording (set to Force record)-->IVR.
IVR then sends proper digit press to a Ring Group
Or No Response/Timeout to Lenny.
Lenny, on my system, is a Custom Destination, that dials "app-nv-itslenny,s,1".

It's as simple as that (for me).

I'm not running through an IVR; Once someone dials my phone it rings the phone directly; I'm running it through Call Screener Dialplan (http://nerdvittles.com/?p=33147) with CID Superfecta so if someone doesn't press 5 they end up at Lenny. If they press 5 it rings the phone; if I pickup the phone and its a telemarketer I transfer them ##53669 to Lenny (that is where I thought it would record but it doesn't) Ok I went and set it to force record in my inbound routes, I disabled recording in Advanced settings; I'll test it out. I have Lenny setup exactly same as you. Forcing record is it going to record every phone call that comes in? Is that only way to make this work? The record flag in Lenny's settings, does that do anything?

@wardmundy UPDATE: it recorded the call but it recorded everything; I just want calls that go to Lenny recorded not every phone call.

Simple solution. Set up a ring group with Lenny as the only member. Set call recording on the ring group to "Force". If your Lenny is a custom destination rather than an extension, leave the ring group members blank (you may have to put a period (.) for the members) and then put your custom destination for Lenny at the bottom for "Destination if no answer."

oh let me try that, didn't think of that, so do I just set 53669 as the Ring Group Number? I'm not sure what all the options should be when setting up Lenny as a ring group since its a custom destination. I get an error message that the extension 53669 is already in use as a feature code

Also did something change from this article (http://nerdvittles.com/?p=32049) that disabled recording?

Ring group number will be something new, not 53669. Use 999 or something in your numbering plan.

@shdwkeeper As @kenn10 suggested ... setup a new Ring Group, say 669. In the extension list, add 53669#. The "#" is required as Lenny is an 'external number.' The Ring Group number can then be treated as any 'extension' in the system and you can record the incoming/outgoing calls as part of the settings in the "Recording Options" under "Advanced" tab for extension 53669 settings.

That is a good way to make it work in the ring group too.

@geopeterwc ok, so setting this up as you mentioned the Caller Screening dial-plan I have in place will still work as it does, right?

Also, after setting up this ring group, I would than create an Extension 669 (type sip or something different?) than I could go into Advanced tab and choose recording options? Should I Force recording on the Ring Group or just control the options from the advanced tab under extensions?

UPDATE: I cant create Extension 669 because it is now the ring group, and Lenny is setup as a Misc Application with 53669 being used as a Feature Code not an Extension. Not sure what to do now. The Lenny install is how this article (http://nerdvittles.com/?p=32049) said to do "Today's Version" of Lenny

@shdwkeeper ... The number assigned to a ring group must be unique and can not be used for any other purpose (ie., as an extension number) in your iPBX. The number may be used as if it's an extension number that you have defined under 'extensions'. In other words, because that number is assigned to the ring group, that number can not be used to create a new extension.

Once configured, the ring group number can be used in the same way that any other extension number would be used that is defined in your PBX; transfer calls to the ring group, assign IVR choices to it, etc.

Options to set your preferred recording choice is found in the custom extension settings under the Advanced tab for extension 53669 (Lenny).

Be sure that Lenny can be accessed by dialing 53669 from any other phone in your iPBX before the ring group is created. Add only the Lenny (53669#) to the "Extension List". Save the Ring Group, and APPLY the change to your iPBX. Then TEST by dialing the ring group number that you've assigned from another extension. Lenny will answer in the same way as when you dial 53669 directly.

Obviously, now "Lenny" can be accessed by dialing the ring group number OR by dialing Lenny directly from any extension within your PBX. You can't transfer incoming calls from an IVR to Lenny (53660) without using the ring group approach. Remember the "#" character that MUST be included after the number to identify to the iPBX that the number that precedes it to be processed an "external" call. Use the Ring Group Number as the target for your IVR choice, for timeout/failures, and for blacklist.

Use the Ring Group Number in the same way that you would use any other extension number assigned to a phone supported by your iPBX.

This is the part I'm confused on. Lenny in my setup is listed under Misc Apps, its not listed under custom extension or extension 53669. Its under Applications/Misc Applications. That's how the article said to set it up for IPBX 2020. Its a 3rd party addon.

Just set it up the way I explain in #44 above and it works. There are many ways to get the same results using FreePBX so pick one.

Another duct cleaning offer, and he even CALLED BACK! He gets super frustrated on the callback (merged the 2 calls together, 2nd call starts at 2:10)

OK, I fixed it. With the new Caller Screening, I had to change line #10 from 53669 to 669 (the new ring group I created) and now it works. Just need to remember to point Blacklist and everything you want to go to Lenny to 669 now.

Code:
[sub-log-caller]
exten => s,1,NoOp(*** begin sub-log-caller ***)
exten => s,n,GotoIf(${DB_EXISTS(cidname/${CALLERID(num)})}?CNAMOK)
exten => s,n,Playback(silence/1)
exten => s,n,Playback(to-call-num-press)
exten => s,n,Playback(digits/5)
exten => s,n,Read(MYCODE,beep,1,n,1,10)
exten => s,n,GotoIf($["${MYCODE}" = "5"]?ANONTEST)
exten => s,n(FLUNKED),NoOp(*** Caller FLUNKED screening ***)
;exten => s,n,Dial(local/*701@from-internal) ; uncomment to send to 701 VM
exten => s,n,Dial(local/669@from-internal) ; uncomment to send to Lenny
exten => s,n,Zapateller()
exten => s,n,Hangup
exten => s,n,Return()
exten => s,n(CNAMOK),Set(CALLERID(name)=${DB(cidname/${CALLERID(number)})})
exten => s,n,Goto(WHITELISTED)
exten => s,n(ANONTEST),GotoIf($[${CALLERID(num)} > 0]?WHITELISTNOW:CONNECTNOW)
exten => s,n(WHITELISTNOW),Set(DB(cidname/${CALLERID(number)})=${CALLERID(name)})
exten => s,n,Set(CALLERID(all)="${CALLERID(name)} <${CALLERID(number)}>")
exten => s,n,Goto(SENDEMAIL)
exten => s,n(WHITELISTED),Set(CALLERID(all)="${CALLERID(name)} <${CALLERID(number)}>")
exten => s,n,Goto(CONNECTNOW)
exten => s,n(SENDEMAIL),NoOp(WhiteListed: ${CALLERID(all)})
exten => s,n,Set(email="root")
exten => s,n,GotoIf($[${email} = "root"]?CONNECTNOW)
exten => s,n,system(echo "In Asterisk Phone Book, verify new CNAM entry of ${CALLERID(name)} for ${CALLERID(number)}." | /usr/bin/mail -s "Incredible PBX CNAM Reminder" ${email})
exten => s,n(CONNECTNOW),NoOp(*** end of sub-log-caller ***)
exten => s,n,Return()

An advantage of hosting your own Lenny, is that you get to hear the calls you missed: In this one he,
Lenny-very-confused-when-offered-the-covid-jab :oops:

The disadvantage - the like of Doctors & Dentists withold their CallerID and so get handled gently by Lenny, and Covid doesn't quite register on his list of priorities; Still unmasked but with lots of social distance it didn't really matter.
