I've been having problems with Asterisk 1.8 and the phones we've been using previously in the school office.
We decided we need to get new phones.
I've used some Linksys/Cisco phones in the past (specifically the SPA-922), and I was very happy with them.
I need to get something that will work well, but doesn't cost too much (I'm fine with buying used or off eBay).
I saw that Cisco has a whole newer line of phones on their site, and I don't know the first thing about them...
Can someone recommend something that should work well, and should hold up, but isn't too expensive and costs extra for features that I don't need?
Thanks a lot!

Is there a reason you need 1.8? A little scary you are using it in production at this point :(

Using it because of the Google Voice integration, we're running al our outgoing calls through GV.

He has a point about 1.8.

FWIW I'm using purple 1.8.2, and have used a snom 220, snom 300 and a Mitel 5212. They all worked fine.

You can pick up a Snom 300 for about $110 shipped on fleabay.

The Mitels are great phones. Office quality, very good sound and great speaker, but using the sip load you lose the transfer to blf feature.

You can get the Mitels for under $100 shipped.

Yealink, Snom, Aastra or Polycom.

Yealinks are cheap too and they support HD voice and are quality handsets.

Aastra phones are the flagship models of PBX in a Flash

Polycoms are great but hard to configure.

I just program Snoms, I don't know anything about them except third hand knowledge.

Stay far away from Grandstream & Linksys

If you do get Cisco phones then use SCCP not SIP.

Is there any reason not to get the Aastra 6730i, as opposed to the 6731i if I don't need POE?
And is that one of the better phones out there for the price?
It seems to be in the range of what I would spend, so looking at that for now...
Thanks!

Anyone know how the Yealink SIP-T22P or SIP-T20P compare to the Aastra 6730i?
