I have the latest IPBX (15.0.16.65.1) installed and working very nicely for a relative noob. One feature I'm looking for is the ability to change up ring tones based on different incoming routes (different DID's from Skyetel). In my case I have two different "Companies" and I'd like the (human) receptionist to know based on the ring tone which greeting to give on answer.

Any chance this is possible with IPBX?

Yes, if your SIP device supports Alert Info. You can set it on the Incoming Route, or on a Ring Group, and probably other places too...

You can also use the route's CID Name Prefix field to add a visual alert at the front of the incoming caller-id. This may sometimes be more effective than, or in addition to, different rings.

And a lot easier to set up. I just tried Alert-Info with my Aastra 6757i and couldn't make it work, information is quite limited.

I use Aastra phones a lot. You can select up to 5 ring patterns. Try this:

Also, on your Aastra preferences, you can set the ring type so in your hunt-group, you could have <External> if you set your phone up something like this. This is on the Aastra 9143i but I believe you have the same options on the later phones.

The bellcore-dr codes set the ring cadence. On the phone itself, you can set different ringer tones for different lines but those are local to the phone and can't be changed via Asterisk.

I didn't do anything special on my Aastra config. This is what all my phones have in the preferences. I really just use the Bellcore codes to differentiate internal vs. external calls. Single ring internal and double ring external.

So it did work, I just didn't catch it because I was using dr5. dr2 makes it more apparent what is happening. I couldn't make External work though, with or without <> and changing External at the phone GUI.

I don't remember how I did it once before but I ended up just using the Bellcore-dr stuff and not messing with the rest. I just use the Alert-Info on my incoming routes.
