PIONEERS Rocky Roadmap & Bug Fixes

@wardmundy
are you going to turn on PortKnock in the installers as indicated in your post above or are you still having issues with it?

Something I noticed if you run pbxstatus from the command line it does not display the public IP address. It works correctly when auto run when you first log in, just not when pbxstatus run from terminal

Sounds like a network issue on your server. Our test sites all work fine.

Interesting, if I run status then there is no public IP address; but pbxstatus works properly on my LXC container (Proxmox).

Thanks @wardmundy and @kenn10. Based on your input, I will take a look at it on another server.
Perhaps your current install is using an unexpected device name for your WAN port?

Yesterday I reported the problem because public ip only worked on initial boot up. Now this morning I can't get it to recreate the blank public IP on the same server. Thanks for the help

Here is updated Gmail Smarthost relay install script for SendMail and Rocky8:
Code:
cd /root
wget http://incrediblepbx.com/enable-gmail-smarthost-rocky8.tar.gz
tar zxvf enable-gmail-smarthost-rocky8.tar.gz
rm -f enable-gmail-smarthost-rocky8.tar.gz
./enable-gmail-smarthost-for-sendmail

This is being added to install scripts now.

Are there issues with Port Knocker and Rocky 8? Doing a completely fresh install of Incredible 2022 now. So if port knocker should be removed in favor of Traveling man, now is the time :)

Travelin' Man 3 is a preconfigured Linux firewall. Never remove it. PortKnocker is a way to navigate through the firewall from a site that is not previously whitelisted. Very different beasts. You can usually live without PortKnocker especially if you've installed OpenVPN on your devices.

Are there any security issues with Port Knocker? Looks pretty straight forward. When an IP is added with PortKnocker is the addition permanent or just until reboot?

Last learning question on this, what is the difference between Travelin' Man and IPTables? Or are they the same thing?

Thanks Ward!! Sorry to be a pain, still putting together how everything relates to one and another. Made harder by the inclusion of TLA in one area of my work being exactly the same as TLA here, but meaning totally different things. ARGHHH

P.S. TLA = Three Letter Acronyms. TLA is in itself a TLA!

I followed this and no cigar. My Google App Password doesn't show the password having been used. Are there other configs required along with this one?

Tried to install on Rocky 8 on Vultr on a $5 instance.
Interesting that Rocky8 and Alma are not available on Vultr in Toronto but they are in New Jersey.

In any event, in New Jersey, the build took about 90 minutes and never really completed. I did see some timeouts while the script was fetching some modules but I don't have any exact info.

However, iPBX-D 2027 on Debian 11 was a dream to install. It appeared to go flawlessly and of course it seems there is less being compiled from source because it was fast!!! I have played with Rocky 8 on GCP for other non PBX purposes and I really just have such a negative experience and attitude when Google backs an O.S.
