I have been having a lot of trouble with my phones using the g729 codec. I purchased and installed 2 channel licenses for g729 from Digium and they appear to be functioning properly. Here is the mystery. When I force any of the devices to use g729 the verbosity output displays absolutely nothing when I dial another extension from the g729 forced extension. When I set the devices back to g711 the calls function properly and all is well. When I call the g729 forced extension from a g711 extension the phone rings; sip show channels show the g729 extension and the g711 extension, but there is no audio and the call abruptly hangs up after 5 seconds or so. While the call is in place I run the show g729 command and it show 1 channel being transcoded. I am a novice TB user and operate an A2Billing platform for international students. I would desperately like to run my production system on PBX in a flash but I can't seem to get around this problem. I would post a debug but nothing appears in the verbosity when the call is placed from the g729 phone; just a fast busy signal is heard in the receiver.

Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Thanks in advance and have a great day! :banghead:

I use g729 (licensed) from my asterisk box to my trunk(s), but not from phone-to-phone/phone-to-asterisk. (The phone speaks uLaw to asterisk and asterisk speaks g729 to my trunk). Why are you trying to use g729 on the actual endpoint (phone)? That may be your problem.

What about a tail of your full debug log?
Code:
tail --lines=200 /var/log/asterisk/full
