Sometimes (1 out of 20+ calls) I will here a bad/static type ring back when calling my PBX and static in the audio. From what I have read, this is most likely caused my bandwidth issue. My cable modem is running @ 2meg/15meg and I'm having a hard time believing its bandwidth related with just one call being processed.

Does the PBX provide the ring back tones to a calling party or does my VoIP provider (vitelity). What else might cause an issue like this?

thx

Just because you have a 2 by 15 pipe doesn't mean that the ISP is able to provide that bandwidth the entire way. I have had DSL providers that could not provide a 384 Mbit upload due to congestion on their networks. When this happens, try running "mtr" (Matt's Traceroute) on the remote ip and see what your results are.

MTR is built into Centos. It will identify a congested path in the route. The ISP will then tell you that they have something on their router to dump your MTR packets when traffic is high, and that may be true, but if it is in the "dump mode" then there is too much traffic on that device.
