I noticed in the last boot-up update when I logged into PIAF EDIT: UBUNTU 2025 version) that Lenny was changed. But now when I call 53669 it just hangs up on me. The terminal output of the call is attached.

I can't seem to figure out what is going on, but the other functions like Today In History and Yahoo News also seem to be broken. But 4747, 1234, and 5678 work as normal.

Best Regards,
Steve

Looking at the log you provided, I see...

Code:
[2025-12-23 02:31:23] WARNING[239247][C-00000006]: channel.c:6204 request_channel: No channel type registered for 'SIP'

[2025-12-23 02:31:23] NOTICE[239247][C-00000006]: app_dial.c:2720 dial_exec_full: Unable to create channel of type 'SIP' (cause 66 - Channel not implemented)

So, it looks like Lenny is attempting to use a SIP channel that doesn't exist. Not familiar enough with how the Lenny macro works. But, this probably explains why it stopped working.

The other functions you mentioned that aren't working may have the same issue.

Thanks so much for your reply! That makes sense, I did see that error, but I don't see how it could have gotten that way! I guess I need to dig through FreePBX and figure it out. Thanks for your help! Happy New Year.

Lenny is a sip channel to a 3rd party. IIRC it is a sip domain. So do/are the Yahoo News and Today In History services. So if other non-DNS services are working but these that need to resolve against DNS aren't, I'd recommend starting with a DNS check.

Thanks Ward! Finally got it working by forwarding to that number, but I had to also give the CallerID of extension 53669 a valid landline CallerID or BulkVS would not complete the call. The DNS (including SRV) was fine.

Happy New Year to you! I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for all you've done with NerdVittles, writing amazing scripts that I've had so much fun with over the years, and creating such stable and amazing phone systems. I have been following NerdVittles for about 20 years now, and have always appreciated your creativity and ability to come up with such great software. I've used pretty much all the providers you've recommended over the years, too :)

Thanks again and a very Happy New Year!

@thesirdotcom: Or you can simply forward calls to this number:

OR here 1-347-514-7296
sip:[email protected] (credit https://www.reddit.com/r/itslenny/ )

I doubt that you need an outgoing did if on a callcentric trunk; but you maybe in stir-shaken-land?

Thanks for the other number. I am using BulkVS, which requires an outbound CallerID. Thanks for the info. I will look into Callcentric though. Might be a good trunk to add.

The 631 number is from CallCentric as well. So syntax should be the same.
