Hi everyone, after 20 hours of research and testing, using yealink T58 and grandstream gsx3350 video phones.................
the codecs are critical, for voice you must have at least PCMA, PCMU, G729, and for VIDEO H264 (also can have H264HP, VP8, H263)
but here is the kicker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
VPBX3 used an older Asterisk version that handles large video SDP packets over UDP differently. VitalPBX 4.5 (Asterisk 20) is stricter — the video SDP packet exceeds UDP MTU limit, so TCP is required. This is actually the correct behavior per SIP RFC.
WHEW!
so in the phone setup section, you must select TCP as transport (with vital pbx 3 you could use UDP) and I would also select STUN for NAT (vital pbx 3 leave this "disabled") If TCP is not selected then the phones will not establish an outbound call.
I hope ward, kenn10, knerd and tcreek put a feather in my cap, im trying....................im trying to learn.
