Web Searchable Phone Book?

I'm a little unclear what I should use for the following; Asteridex, the Asterisk phonebook ???

I need a solution which allows end users to search the directory of all extensions (ie the "name" field in the FreePBX extension list) to look for someone else at the company.

I suppose ideally it would also allow me to add a few additional names for people who had cell phones without extensions and so on, but that search capability is the key.

What would people recommend?

It would be MUCH better if it was automatic.

I can think of a few web searchable contact lists: sugar CRM, VtigerCRM, FOP2 address book, asteridex and theaddressbook, none of which will grab your extensions automatically. I am sure there are a bunch more. The CRM's are complex if all you need is a simple address book they are not for you. I use theaddressbook with noojee and am quite happy with it, but if all you need is names and numbers then FOP2 is probably the easiest. All work with superfecta if that is important to you.

Hmmm; the auto population of the extension list is important. Sounds like I need to find some budget at one of my clients to make one that plugs into superfecta; maybe an asteridex modification or something.

I emailed Nicolas (the guy who wrote FOP2) and asked about an enhancement. He seemed to be amenable (he read the thread) to that but said he needed to think about it. I was going to buy FOP2 anyway so I'll probably get around to that soon and see where it goes from there.

Assuming the enhancement you are talking about is to automatically have the extensions added to the FOP2 phone book, perhaps that is not necessary. Provided logged in user is able to view all the other extension buttons, you can click to dial any of them without using the phonebook.

Yes, agreed, the main enhancement would be the ability to add outside numbers and have it all in one place. It's suitable for immediate use and then a small enhancement comes later.
