R.I.P. yum update safe?

[Bart]

I had Lylix install a VPS server with OS: 64-bit PIAF Incredible PBX 13-12.2 (Asterisk 13)
But there are 658 packages to update. They must be using some old stuff
Is it safe to run yum update?

FreePBX 12 is no longer maintained so I'd get to a more current platform and forget about yum update.
