Hi There,

So let me say upfront I am completely new to this. I inherited this platform so its all new to me. We are curring Incredible PBX at our head office its working like a charm locally. We have another office which we have phones connected to it via external IP through port 5060. Everything was great until last week where about 90% of the remote phones lost connection. When I log into each phone device, its saying it cannot register. A couple of phones are ok and I compared the settings and they are identical. Everything is ok onsite, just the remote phones.

Any tips or suggestions as to why this happened and what I should do?

9 times out of 10, it is a firewall setting. The other time, it is probably the firewall setting. If it worked before, ask yourself what changed?

Let's say this is your setup . . .

Home office - fixed IP - with 10 extensions.
Remote office - DYNAMIC IP - with 5 extensions that connect to the Home Office PBX.

If the remote office's IP changed and you have IPTABLES running, the server is REJECTING all connections from the remote office because it thinks it is an attack. Yes, this is working as intended.

I hate to admit doing this, but I've turned off the IP tables for 30 seconds before when I've thought this could be the case, and if IPtables is blocking it, then it registers right away and you can re-enable IPtables and then add the needed IP address. I don't endorse turning off IPtables for any reason, but it does let you know if that's the problem.

Thank you for the reply. Nothing has changed on the firewall. I've disabled IPTABLES right now to see what will happen.

Sorry for the delay. I disabled it and the phones still don't register.

Then you know its not a firewall issue. (assume you re-enabled immediately afterwards, if not - PLEASE do). I would almost bet that you've got a network issue within that office, perhaps a double nat or something.

I'd take one of the phones that is working, and then replace it in that exact location with one of the phones that is NO Longer working. What happens there will tell you where to look next. If it works, then you've got a network issue there. If it doesn't work - you do have something different with that phone versus the other.
