@wardmundy, what's the difference between the built-in "incrediblebackup/incrediblerestore" and the downloadable "backup-full" and "restore-full"?

The reason I ask this, is I am building a test lab in VirtualBox in hopes to deploy it in the cloud as a sort of template. Would the Incredible Restore scripts get me by?

You're probably going to have to try both and see which one works best on your platform.

How long does the "cloud backup" script usually take? It hung before it could execute the gzip command. I'll do more testing of course. As for Incredible Backup/Restore, those scripts look broken, since it can't seem to kill Asterisk before the backup. Do you know if there are any plans for improving that system in the future?

Okay, tried it again and I realize now why the backup hung. It didn't hang. The file was just very big.

Yes you do get an incredible warning to "hang in there"; which was your queue to get to bed or something.
The only other point is the script normally does not back the /etc/iptables stuff because the restore may be for an alternative location, and you neither want nor need to be locked out.

The backup-full script DOES back up the iptables related files and usually comes out to around 1.7GBs. The older backup system (Incredible Backup) doesn't back up that much and only comes out to a few hundred megabytes.

@wardmundy you might want to do something to the backup-full script so that people don't think it's hanging. I have to initiate the script by typing:

Code:
bash -x ./backup-full

This allows me to see a trace of the script as it's running since there's no "sit tight" message. I've found the backups usually take about 30 minutes or something to that effect.

Personally, I chose cloud backup for my G Suite, and knowing how to backup google drive is really important for me. After reading various guides, I seamlessly performed backups of my data and later on fully automate the process.
Just so I'm clear, you think windows or mac clients to back up word documents/etc. is relevant to what is being discussed in this thread?

Just someone spamming without trying to be too obvious
