Yes always thinking about other things!

I will be driving up to SC the day before the workshop and staying an extra day. I will also be bringing my Scuba gear with me in case there are any divers out there who might want to take a dip in the evening or go out to some of the wrecks on the weekend.

I am a PADI OWSI instructor and can teach many specialties so for anyone who wants to do a specialty scuba course I am waving the instructor fees for conference participants et al. Thus you will only pay the PADI registration fee and the cost of any materials. I will need to know in advance if anyone is interested so PM me if you are. I am planning to charter a boat on the Saturday and dive on a couple of the local wrecks.

I have at least one good SCUBA story. I dove before going into the Army. Dove a bit while in. Anymore, not so much.

I'm arriving on the the evening of the Saturday 23rd February, and departing on the Sunday the 2nd of March, so may join you, however, as you know my thing is more sailing on top of the water, than underneath it. My experience so far is that everything under the water either wants to bite you, sting you, poison you, or crawl inside you and make babies.

You should try snorkeling and see how you like it. If it suits you well, you just might progress into scuba. Many do stick to snorkeling (get a good mask, rent the fins) as you can still see quite a bit. Especially in places like Cozumel where lots of reef bits hug the shoreline and they'll be plenty to see without any effort. Not to mention the tropical drinks waiting for you as soon as you get out.
