Patch not work! Asterisk wont start!

I have reinstalled piaf about 12 times now (using 1.6). No problem until this weekend when the -1 error ocurred with each install attempt. (using the 1.6 method).

Applied the patch.

Just rebooted, got the errror -1 retrieve.conf error again. Went to the box and entered the 'core version' command.

Message returned was that it was unable to connect to remote asterisk...."(does ....asterisk.ctrl exist?)"

Followed the script exactly. Something changed this weekend I guess....

Ran amportal restart: Messages: cat: /var/run/asterisk.pid: No such file or directory.

Asterisk exit status 139
Ast...exited on signal 11
/usr/bin/safe_asterisk: line 117: 4184 segmentation fault (core dumped)....flags... $priority/... clliargs...tty

use tail.... log/ast../full: looks like problems with: appwaitforring.so ; app_followme.so; app_stack.so.

Yeah, I am whit you on that. No problems with the code prior to the weekend. It worked great.
I guess I will go back to earlier version. But ultimately to get 1. 6 on in the future, we will always have to do a clean install, no?

Yep. Also there is a problem with the beta 2 version of asterisk I am afraid. Beta 1 worked great however. I have attempted to track this problem down and am running the latest from svn but still it exists.... Sorry guys

When upgrading asterisk in piaf will we need to do a complete wipe and install? Or will future scripts enable ease the upgrade process?

I guess that would depend. Gee there really is no answer. Currently when you run update-source you are upgrading from source in the same series with minimal impact and so far planes have not dropped out of the sky doing this. (as certain other distros would have you believe)

All bets are off when you upgrade to a different series of asterisk (1.6) Currently it seems to work running upgrade-source16 on an existing install. although there have been a few "arcane" problems it seems to work. The real question I bet is I have box A running Asterisk 1.4 and want to move my PIAF configs to box B running Asterisk 1.6 can this be done. I have not had time to try just yet!

Right now the upgrade path within version works well, at least until Digium provides us with "new features" that break it.

My attitude is once something is up and running with no bugs there really is not a burning need to run the update-source program unless there is a REAL security threat ala TBT or SIP exploit.
