Just got IncrediblePBX 1.8 installed under VM, off my dual core 4gb server mainly for Google Voice dial in and out. That part work fine, but I want to use other feature of IncrediblePBX and the sound is choppy.

I've tried http://pbxinaflash.net/vm/ and couple things mentioned in this thread http://pbxinaflash.com/community/threads/solvedx2-pbxiaf-choppy-sound.66/. And I also have VMware Tool installed, but couldn't have the choppy sound fixed. Those seems to be fixes for PIAF 1.4 that didn't work in IncrediblePBX1.8 Any tip/advice how to fix choppy sound in IncrediblePBX 1.8 installed under VM? Appreciate any help.

Got this note from Richard Tomlinson yesterday. Give it a try and let us know how it goes. :wink5:

Just a quick note about the latest PIAF running on vmware. Using the current kernel its worth modifying boot.conf to append: divider=10
clocksource=acpi_pm

This has the effect of changing the kernel to 100Hz update which improves audio and drops cpu utilisation. As recommended

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1006427

Also means that the custom vm kernels as shown on your site shouldnt be needed.

Thanks Ward. Yes, I added divider=10 clocksource=acpi_pm to grub.conf. Still have issue. :confused5:

Proxmox looks interesting, but the problem is that I need the vm to run inside my Windows server that I use for media storage, backups, along with the other VMware vm. :confused5:.

Don't know what to do at this point. Might dig out my old centrino laptop and put PIAF on that laptop. But really hate to run another piece of hardware as I already have too many PCs running 24x7 already. :confused5:

I use proxmox for:
1. Several Windows 7 KVM's
2. Windows Media Center, feeds Xbox360 extenders in my home. Also acts as a media server and PVR. KVM
3. Production PIAF and a few non production for testing
4. Vicidial auto dialer for some marketing things I do

and just about any other testing I may want to do. I use the KSM kernel for better memory management. It's nice to have everything on one machine.
