Just an FYI that Aastra has released new firmware for 5i series phones. Supposedly fixes a few outstanding issues and has better XML support.

Not sure if everything still works out of the box with the regular XML scripts with PBXIAF. I've downloaded the new XML Development guide / kit but haven't had time to try the included files for automatic xml provisioning of new phones.

Hooray! My current phones (57i & 53i) pulled the update via t*f*t*p without issue. This firmware fixes a couple major annoyances making a great line of phones even better.

Under the older firmware when a call came in and you were already on the line, the softkeys switched functions and you lost the conf and xfer keys to control the existing call. They also fixed some memory/resource leaks that were causing lockups for some users.

An Aastra rep announced the release in the TB Aastra forum and listed the highlights. On paper it looks like they've fixed and added quite a bit.

2.2 works flawlessly with the new Nerd Vittles build and corrects the only two issues we've seen. The first was the disappearance of the forward and transfer buttons if another call came in while you were on the phone. The second was a quirk in the display when you used our Message display application. Both are now fixed. :smile5:

Yup, firmware fixes the xfer thingy and new vmail.php in xml developer package fixes the visual voicemail on Asterisk 1.4. I don't see any new XML examples in the developer guide but the class files are all newer so the may have put some new features in there. I see a bit more documentation about putting custom pictures/Icons on the display.

Just an fyi the automatic XML provisioning works great with this kit as well. Take the phone out of the box, plug it in to the ethernet drop, and it asks you for the extension and password, automatically creates mac.cfg file, reboots and you are done. I simply setup my 57i template file to be coded with all the Nerdvittles goodies so I didn't loose anything.

Sorry to be so dense. I had that one. Where is the visual voicemail enhancement??

Hmm.. I don't see a vmail.php file in the xml development kit, so maybe powerontech is referring to a different download.

Hmmmm, I could have sworn it was in there but just checked and it's not. Sorry about that!
