Cordless recommendations???

DECT 6.0 cordless phones work great when connected to an analoge interface. This is afterall, what it is designed to do and where it is used most. In a typical PSTN call, there can and will be multiple A/D & D/A conversions.

There will be a minimum of two, one at each end. Any more than two are added by the use of a digital cordless phone with a RJ11 analog interface.

Completely under user control.

To chime in, I had originally purchased a Gigaset bundle (the one with the A58H handset) and returned it. It was too finiky and the handset was really cheap. Ended up with a PAP2T and 2 sets of 3 Panasonic phones. Works great so far.

You can disable the feature codes on the PAP2 so they don't interfere with the PBX. Just set the feature code field to an empty entry.

We use a couple of PAP2s as one of the buildings on the premises doesn't have Ethernet (and doesn't need it). So, we just made use of the existing phone lines. They work quite well considering the 700+ feet distance.

Have you been able to park calls from the cordless phones that are plugged into the PAP2 ? I have cleared all of the feature code fields on a PAP2 and still can not get it to transfer a call or park a call.

This should work the same way for you. I was able to park a call using each of these different transfer features - *2 and ##. After the systems announces "transfer", dial 70#. The call is now parked in the first available slot. You have to have at least one of the above feature codes enabled for this to work.

You could set this up as one of the speed-dial buttons on the cordless phone if you need to make it easier for the end-user. Of course, this is dependent upon whether or not the phone has a speed-dial function.

Just out of curiosity, how are you trying to park a call?

I tried hitting the "Flash" button which puts the call on hold but I can't do anything else with it except pick it back up. I tried the ## and it is ignored. The person on the other end hears the beeps in their ear! I then tried ## from one of the corded Aastra phones and it is ignored there too. So, I may have more than one issue. The standard Park and xFer keys on the Aastra phones work fine tho.

What did you do with the feature fields in the PAP2 config screens? I blanked them all out since I want it to pass the dialed strings to Asterisk.

I have uploaded a screenshot of the web interface. It's empty except for a couple near the bottom left. I don't quite remember why I left those particular two there, but PBXIAF doesn't make use of those codes, anyway.

Double-check the settings in FreePBX and make sure *2/## are enabled. If they're not, then the key presses will be ignored.
