ENUM & Tollfree Gateways

Haven't looked at this in a while and WHAT A MESS! Not only do neither ENUM nor ENUMPLUS work reliably, but all of the suggested gateways on Voip-Info.org fail 99% of the time, too. I thought I found a reliable one this afternoon, but that lasted about 2 hours. Now it fails as well.

Absent objection, I'm going to rip all of this code out of Incredible PBX. It's more hassle than it's worth.

I second this motion. I have an ITAD, but I never got it working right, and am not about to enable anon sip calls.

I couldn't agree more with the above posts... however.. when I mentioned something before everyone thought I was crazy because some were able to use it.

It's too bad this doesn't work. It would be a good way to continue to drive carrier costs down if we simply could do a lookup (perhaps DNS) and say hey, I can connect to that person directly via IP, assuming they join up and allow anonymous SIP. Some will and some wont of course.

Actually Dundi solves this problem. The e164 Dundi cloud maintain by Anthony Messina does this. It allows members to check the cloud and see if there there is a route and if there is, it sends the route and a key. That way the resulting route does not require an unsecured route.

Simple and DUNDI don't go together IME; I tried and couldn't get it to behave . . . but then again I'm not all that skilled with dial plans and trunking that aren't handled by FreePBX.

But I can follow instructions I'm paranoid to keep working on it because I'm worried I'll accidentally permit outbound calling on my trunk lines.

And I have a few systems I can sign up.

I'm not that versed in the scripts and languages involved...but I think I traced the problem to an added character on the end of the enum address given to Asterisk by the API...
