Come Enjoy the Birthday Bash

OK so i installed Incredible 2.9 yesterday on a fresh box. I only have a few hours into resetting up my extentions etc.

asterisk 1.8 freepbx 2.9 incredible pbx 2.9

questions that i know someone out there is wonder along with myself.

1. upgrade from 2.9 to 3 incredible pbx?
2. i ran yesterday "wget http://incrediblepbx.com/incrediblepbx29.x" so i can correctly assume it did not automatically use the newest payload?

3. Since i am still in the middle of setting it back up I dont mind reinstalling and was just about to, but thought i should ask before i did the whole process over again.

You are joking right?

The is no upgrade path between versions I am afraid, If we were a fully funded project we might have the time to do this.

The rewritten incredible pbx 3.0 was a ground up rewrite I am afraid and it was the first one to use the payload concept. 3.0 and 2.9 cannot coexist and in fact if you now try to install the 3.0 version well...... I have not tried it but I can only imagine. I am going to suggest ward take the v29 version offline to avoid confusion.

I suppose the other thing with reading webposts is usually the most recent information is the correct one to use and not the older ones.

Thus scrub and reinstall and ONLY use the tools that come with the CURRENT version of PBX in a Flash off the pbx-menu program. Really it all works as long as you use the tools that come with PBX in a Flash by default.

So for the record.

Incredible PBX

1. No upgrade path from previous versions. You want an upgrade path pony up some $$$ and buy some development time.

2. For PBX in a Flash 2.0.6.2.X and HIGHER you must use install-incredpbx3 ONLY. Anything else is not supported at all

3. No further work is being done on any previous version of Incredible PBX. We are concentrating ONLY on the current version of Incredible PBX 3.0.

4. If it is technically feasible there MAY be an upgrade path from Incredible PBX 3.0 to 3.1 if it is really needed. With such a major change in the code base it really is a NEW program.

5. If you installed one of the previous versions and it is working for you LEAVE IT ALONE. If you really want the latest version you must scrub and reinstall

Incredible FAX

1. NO UPGRADE PATH FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS. This is in essence a brand new program thus how could there be an upgrade?

2. For PBX in a Flash 2.0.6.2.X and HIGHER you must use install-incredfax2 ONLY. Anything else is not supported at all

3. No further work is being done on any previous version of Incredible FAX. We are concentrating ONLY on the current version of Incredible FAX 2.0.

4. If it is technically feasible there MAY be an upgrade path from Incredible PBX 2.0 to 2.1 if it is really needed. With such a major change in the code base it really is a NEW program.

5. If you installed one of the previous versions and it is working for you LEAVE IT ALONE. If you really want the latest version you must scrub and reinstall

Thanks Tom .... i never expect a upgrade path. God knows you do enough scripting.
.... but since it was a day apart i was not sure if it had forced a 3.0 install even though i used the 2.9 install. I had no idea when 3.0 actually went into effect.

I would say that might be the way to go .. instead of taking the 2.9 offline force a 3.0 install? Only important for the next few days till everyone realizes that 3.0 is out.

Thanks for all that you guys do.

Slapping the centos cd in to reinstall as we speak ...

Good luck if you force an install!

you can always tell which version of incredible pbx is installed by looking at the version number in status. Should always start with 3.

I think current is 3.0.3

Gotta mod the statusfax to show installed version of incredible.

Public apology enclosed ...

Like a idiot I thought 2.9x would include the latest BETA of 3.0 incredible PBX. Thats why i was asking if there was a upgrade path since I believed i had installed a beta, and 3.0 would begin the final. Hell you are on 3.0.3 where have i been?

If i had spent any time reading like i should have, i would have noticed my error.

NO idea where i got this idea, but i am blaming it on me not having any where near enough free time for me to drink my fill for the evening.

Sorry to have wasted any of your time Tom, and thanks for setting me straight.

See PM asking for appropriate address to send enough money to get yourself a beer and ponder life as we know it.
Sorry it cannot be more ...

Thanks. ..

No worries all good I have been accused of being testy at times and well.... yes I am.

Thanks for whatever you can send always appreciated... university is expensive to go back to!
