Have to totally disagree here. I have had clients that have 10 phones in 10 different rooms that only have one Cat-5 running to the Gig switch in the computer room. For them to be able to use Gig pass-through to their phone is a necessity. And if they went with a Gig switch for each of those 10 rooms - how on earth is that cheaper?

GXP-2124 cost < $100 (has Gig)
YeaLink T46 cost around $150 (has Gig)
Aastra 6757 cost > $150

So .... how are these over $75 more than the Aastra ? I mean if you like the Aastra more, that's cool ... but its not cheaper to take the Aastra and add a POE switch to it.

That's like comparing a Toyota to a Hyundai.

The Yealink and Grandstream phones have UI's that are nowhere near as nice as the Aastra phones. Fewer buttons, kludgy interface, etc. And I'm finding the T46 at around $175, which is the same at the 6757i.

If you like the Yealink or Grandstream for reasons other than 10/100/1000 issues, then you've already made up your mind. The 10/100/1000 issues are a non-issue.

I had previously compared the Aastra 6757i (10/100) to the 6737i (gigabit). However, it now looks like they're much closer in price (only about $20) at TelecomSpot. Even then, it's still wiser to use a switch than to use pass-through.
