BUG New Incredible Pi Image

It appears that something has been improved on the FreePBX or Asterisk front. Same issue on other platforms. We'll keep looking. You do know that your days with Google Voice are numbered. It may be discontinued at any time without further notice.

It's not at all clear what the future holds for Google Voice. The mass hysteria over the May 15, 2014 date appears to have been just that. Until Google make a definitive statement, I'm ignoring all the hype coming from other parties.

They've made a definitive statement. The next one will probably be lack of dial tone. :shuriken:

They've made a definitive statement.
Could you post a link to it please?

Many point to this:

but it makes absolutely no mention of any plans or a date to disable XMPP, Google Voice, or anything else. All it says is they're notifying a few application developers (presumably Obihai, GrooveIP, and Talkatone) to stop making unauthorized use of Google Voice. That's far from a definitive statement that the end of Google Voice or XMPP access to it is imminent.

Code:
We are rolling out a new version of the Google+ Hangouts app (goo.gl/XkHn03) for Android, which includes support for SMS and MMS messages. While this is a great step forward, we still have a lot of work to do, specifically around Google Voice:

- Unfortunately, today’s update does not work with Google Voice numbers unless you’ve enabled Google Voice on your Sprint phone...

"does not work" is about as clear as one can say it.

But that's in reference to the Google+ Hangouts app, not the existing XMPP interface to Google Voice that we've all been using for several years and continue to do so.

I'm not arguing that Google won't ever discontinue the current XMPP interface at some point, just that they haven't made any announcement of it so far (and certainly not May 15, 2014). If Google+ Hangouts ever gets to a decent working state with Google Voice (which it definitely isn't at the present), then it might be time to start wondering if changes to the current Google Voice XMPP interface might be forthcoming. Until then, I can't see any reason for alarm.
