OK, long story short, 3Com offers an Asterisk appliance and built code for 3Com phones to work with Asterisk 1.4 (if you have models that can get and save their code like the 3103 and the "B" model phones).
I have such a phone and flashed it to the Asterisk code and it works with a Digium based load of asterisk BUT is has to be in the deviceanduser type mode. FreePBX is capable of it but i can't find anywhere if you can run both types of SIP relationships simultaneously.
Can you do just one "Deviceanduser" phone or do you have to convert everything? Is anyone using deviceanduser? Is it compatible with everything (generic SIP gateways and phones)?
