What is the difference from a routers point of view of a 57i and snom m3?

I have a 57i that will not dial out when using single link mlppp enabled on a linksys wrt54gl with tomatoe firmware(gets around bells throttling) but will work when mlppp is not enabled, nor will it dial out on the hotbrick VPN 800/2.(dual wan enabled or either wan disabled so its single wan)

If I use the voice mail button on the 57i it will get me to the voice mail but if I use the *98 call failed.

I can answer from the 57i, I can dial and answer from the snom m3. So what is the difference between the AASTRA and the Snom?

Maybe an explanation

Hi grumpy,

As I don't have any trace of what's going on it is difficult to answer. It looks like your phone is remote and we know that sometimes if the network does not support properly fragmented UDP packets our phones have a problem to dial out because the INVITE message is fragmented and therefore lost, Aastra phones use extensive SIP headers by default.

We have a couple of workarounds to make it work. In the phone MAC.cfg file located at /tftpboot.

Step 1
add
Code:
sip compact headers: 1

Step 2
add
Code:
sip gruu: 0
sip instance id: 0

Step 3
add
Code:
sip use basic codecs: 1

Reboot the phone after each step and try to dial out before going to the next step.

That should solve your problem.

Let us know.

# Setup DHCP mode
dhcp: 1

sip compact headers: 1
sip gruu: 0
sip instance id: 0
sip use basic codecs: 1

# Setup t*f*t*p server address
t*f*t*p server:

# Time server
time server disabled: 0
time server1: ca.pool.ntp.org
time server2: pool.ntp.org

# Dialing
sip digit timeout: 6

# XML services
xml application post list:

# Startup URI for XML self-configuration
action uri startup: http:///aastra/startup/init.php

# Force one key
softkey1 type: xml
softkey1 label: Startup
softkey1 value: http:///aastra/startup/init.php
prgkey1 type: xml
prgkey1 value: http:///aastra/startup/init.php

Current cfg after changes with reboot after each change, no difference still unable to call out.

Why can I call email with the soft button but not *98?

No t*f*t*p Server?

I suppose that you included aastra.cfg right? Are you sure that aastra.cfg is loaded on the phone as you don't provide any t*f*t*p server, the changes might not be taken into account. Or are you hiding the true settings because you don't want to share your network addresses?

Please check on the Phone Web interface that the changes have been applied. In "Advanced settings" select Global SIP and check that codec 1 is set to "Basic".
If the changes are applied then we will have to get some traces from the phone and from the asterisk server. I have no explanation for the voice mail...

Yahoo! That worked. And no I did not hide the tftboot server it was not there.(is now, just the ip)

Great news

Happy to hear that this solved your problem. Though the changes have very little impact on the phone behavior (with Asterisk) you probably don't need all of them.

Anyway if this works for you that's great!

Solution

Well I spoke to soon, yes the AASTRA did work, but then my sipuraspa ata did not. Get the ata working and the AASTRA would not work. Solution: get rid of the $1000.00 hotbrick and go with the $70.00 Linksys, as a side note the linksys now works with single link mlppp.

Thanks for your help, anybody want a low mileage brick.:banghead:
