I'll be updating my everex orgasmatron 2 with a dual core atom based machine.

Which PIAF should I download from the download link? What is the difference between the free and the pay-to-play version? What about versions (1.3, 1.4, 1.5)? This is for a office used machine that does quite a bit of calling.

Is Dahdi ready for a production system yet? I use a Sangoma A101D and A200.

When installing PIAF, should I have the Sangoma cards in the machine or wait till PIAF is installed and then install them?

I'd go with the beta: http://beta.pbxinaflash.net

There's no difference in the free downloads and the pay-to-play downloads other than perhaps download speed.

You'd need to ask Sangoma about Dahdi. Zaptel still works just fine for me. Both are available so it's your choice.

Thank you for the quick reply Ward.

I assume stick with Asterisk 1.4 for production environments?

I've emailed Sangoma about Dahdi to see if it is good to go for a production environment. Might just stick with zaptel since it works fine for us also.

1.4 is rock-solid... at least today. Unless you need some new 1.6 feature, I wouldn't risk the chance of a surprise.

What is the difference between 1.4 and 1.5?

Ward, what is the major difference between the 1.4 and 1.5 BETA? I am also in the process of changing my home office server for a new Intel Atom 330, so as much as I will love to try the beta 1.5, should I just stay with 1.4 for the time being? My server does not have a really heavy load, but I need it up and running without major hiccups if I want my office (I think most importantly the wife...) to run flawlessly.

Regards,
markiper

The only difference is at the ISO level for 1.5B which is based on Centos 5.3. PIAF 1.4 ISO is based on Centos 5.2

Thanks Tom ..

I guess it will be safe to go for 1.5 BETA then, Centos 5.3 seems to be stable enough. Any idea when 1.5 will get released as final as opposed to BETA?

I have wondered this as well. PIAF Without Tears has the user install cards after PIAF is installed. I would like to know Ward's take on this. :biggrin5:

We don't use cards. :wink5: But I'd think it would be safer to get a stable system and then install the cards. That way you can isolate new issues to the new hardware.

Good point Ward. It is never fun when you have multiple items that could contribute to an unstable system. It is good to keep the head banging to a minimum. :banghead:
