A2B 1.4 Install

I think this is directed to Joe:

now that A2B 1.4 Beta has been released, how long before we might be able to find a new updated script for installing it? The 1.3.4 worked like a charm, would be awesome if 1.4 worked as seamlessly.

I have written a script for A2Billing 1-4, but it is not really suitable for PBX in a Flash, as there are some dependencies in this version that require some fairly major upgrades, php 5.2 for instance, that I would be reluctant to inflict on the PiaF community, as we do not know what the consequences to other programs, addons, nerdvittles extras that may or may not break as a result of these upgrades and dependencies. Nor I am I including it in FonicaPABX, but if I do, I'll port over the install script as I did for Hylafax and WWM3

The ISO I have written for my private use for commercial installs no longer uses FreePBX, we just do it all in the asterisk dial plan. One of the reasons for this is we have things running as they should ideally be, apache running as apache user, and asterisk running as asterisk user, which never used to be possible in earlier versions of FreePBX, but I believe you can do it now, I've just not worked out how without breaking stuff.

Having said that, in the environment of a PBX, and the type of applications that A2B and FreePBX may be put to, the simplicity (compared to A2B 1.4) and stability of 1.3.4 is a real bonus.

There are many reasons that CentOS 5.3 still uses PHP 5.1.6. Upgrading to PHP 5.2.x on the CentOS platform would not be a very smart idea at this juncture. If you enjoy the Linux bleeding edge, our Fedora 10 remix build of PIAF called Atomic Flash uses PHP 5.2 and would be a more suitable platform. Just go in with a healthy appreciation that blood normally accompanies bleeding edge software technology. :deathb:

Thank you for all the wise words of wisdom. I think I'll try later on when I have more time to devote to a 1.4 install and even then keep it for playing till it is more stable.
