I have installed the Aastra scripts etc and my phone is provisioning and working properly. I would like to change the layout of the softkeys on an Aastra 57i to how I like.
I had everything changed how I liked using the WebUI. Everything worked great. When I rebooted the phone, the softkey layout went right back to default layout. How do I get my new layout to stick?

I have also tried manually editing the 'topsoftkey' and 'softkey' parameters in the [mac.cfg] file associated with the phone. When I rebooted the phone, it did not take the new softkey layout.

Help.

Would you post a sample of the settings you used for one of the softkey parameters?

If you don't tell the Aastra what operating states to disply the softkey in, I don't think it will show the softkey. For example, here's one example from the <mac>.cfg file:

softkey1 type: speeddial
softkey1 label: "Messages"
softkey1 value: "*98#"
softkey1 states: "idle outgoing"

This softkey only shows up when the phone is idle or during an outgoing call.

Do you want all the phones to have the same settings or each phone to have different settings?

If you want all phones to have the same settings just setup via ssh or terminal:

1. t*f*t*p
2. type setup-aastra

If you want all phones to have the same softkey settings edit the aastra.cfg file in tftpboot (you will work it out when you read the file) or take one of the key configs and copy it into your mac.cfg file then replicate it for each key.
