Hi everyone. I need help with getting Aastra 6730i phones registered and working with Asterisk and PiaF. Topology is very simple. Standard 100 Mbit wired Ethernet between PCs and phones. No NAT involved and no firewalls (that I know of). The PBX is running off an Intel Atom 230 MB. As near as I can tell, CentrOS and everything else loaded perfectly without problems.

Using Firefox, I can talk to the Atom machine as well as the phones. First question, take a look at the following screen -

My assumption is that as long as the phone reports “unregistered”, nothing is going to work. The terminology used by Aastra and Asterisk appears different. I don't really know what needs to match up between the phones and Asterisk to get things registered and working.

Nothing personal but “joe” the text editor is a little primitive for my tastes. I was able to access the Atom CentrOS system using Krusader and SFTP.

I did run the Aastra script and it did write a configuration file to the tftpboot directory. It didn't help. I did notice, however, that the configuration file was written as a .cfg file -

Moving over to the Asterisk section I noticed that configuration files were written as .conf files. Is this a potential problem? The last question I have involves transferring configuration files from the Atom machine to another Linux machine. I would prefer to move files from the Atom machine over to a machine running Kate, adding or making changes and transferring the file back. This would be a very fast and easy solution for me for dealing with configuration files.

Any suggestions, ideas or information most welcome:smile5:
