Aastra Icom

For some reason, my Icom button is no longer functioning properly. When I press the Icom button, I hear a dialtone. I then put in the extension and I get a Call Failed message and a busy fast tone. Intercom is enabled at the default in FreePbx. The extensions are set to allow all intercoming. If I dial *80ext it works just fine. I saw here:

on a 55 or 57 you can do this (not sure on 53):
softkey1 type: icom
just that line in your cfg file will turn it into intercom as long as you have this in aastra.cfg:

sip intercom type: 2
sip intercom line: 1
sip intercom prefix code: *80
sip intercom mute mic: 0
sip allow auto answer: 1
play a ring splash: 0
priority alerting enabled: 1
------------------------------------

Those lines weren't there, so I added them but it does the exact same thing. I must be missing something...

Turns out that the mac.cfg file had the sip intercom prefix code as nointercom. Must have been because the intercom was activated after the phone was set up.

With the Aastra Icom button, is it possbile to intercom all phones at the same time?

Not that I'm aware of, but you could program a button to a page group.

I dial ring group # and that doesn't seem to work. not sure if that is what you meant?

Create a page group, not a ring group and tie the button to the page group. When I get into the office tomorrow I can get the exact configuration, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Your right page group..that should work. I'll try when i get home. Wonder if page group can be same number as an ext. Probably not im thinking?

I cannot get the page group function working to intercom all aastra phones at once? I created a page goup, selected the seven phones holding down control and assigned an extension (710). When intercoming 710, it doesn't work. Any ideas?

nevermind....it works. You just dial the page group like any extension. No need to hit icom.
