Allison in NewsClips

I have installed and licensed Cepstral, then installed NewsClips and Asterisk Reminders. Reminders has the voice of Allison, but NewClips does not. I have run update-scripts, update-fixes and update-source to no effect. Is there something else I forgot?

Ok, I figured it out, but the instructions were not at http://bestof.nerdvittles.com/applications/ nor were they at the NewsClip script topic at http://nerdvittles.com/index.php?p=142. I went through each of the script topics till I found one that mentioned Cepstral. In the Wifi Hotspot Finder script topic where I adapted the instructions to what they would be for NewsClip.

To be complete for the next poor soul that cannot find this, edit /var/lib/asterisk/agi-bin/nv-news.php and change the variable $ttspick from 0 to 1.

Hi John,
Sorry for the confusion. I didn't intentionally send you on a wild goose chase, but I did want to encourage a little investigation on your part. Now that you've done that, I'll be glad to elaborate...

ALL of the Nerd Vittles TTS applications are set up similarly. There's usually some dialplan code in extensions_custom.conf and a corresponding PHP/AGI script in /var/lib/asterisk/agi-bin that is called from the dialplan code.

For all of these TTS applications, there are options for Flite and Cepstral that have to be set in BOTH the dialplan code and the PHP/AGI script.

As you have correctly pointed out, there is a section of settings at the top of most of the PHP/AGI scripts that lets you set your choice of TTS engines ($ttspick) as well as debug mode ($debug) and whether to email you the debug log ($emaildebuglog) and, if so, where ($email).
