SOLVED: Alternatives for MOH file upload

Is it possible to use an audio file on the server's hard drive as a MOH file? Whenever I try to upload my file (49mb .wav) using the MOH upload, FreePBX times out. Could I FTP it in, or mount the drive as a network share on my Mac and then put it in? Any compression software out there that could shrink the file?
Thanks!
Ross

Ross,
I remember years ago i used winscp to load the file into custom directory, then conver it to asterisk native format. see this or similar thread

I remember i got a nice thread form trixbox without tears then.

I got the file uploaded w/ Webmin, but how can I set it to show up in FreePBX as a MOH File?

Ross,
you have to mv or cp it to /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3 or create our custom directory /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3/<custom directory>

Hope this helps

Actually, I messed up by uploading the WAV file. I had not changed the Hz/Khz (?) and it did not work. So, I went back, changed the Hz/khz and uploaded via FPBX, and it worked. The original file was 50mb, edited was 4/5mb. Thanks!

Now I have another problem. None of my other messages for my IVRs or Announcements or apps (Yapper, Weather, Announcements...) work. I also can not do swift for anything anymore because it says:
Code:
oss_audio: failed to open audio device /dev/dsp
when I go to the CLI and type:
Code:
root@pbx:~$ swift "Hello World"
What should I do?

Rebooted, Swift works again for CLI and Apps. Still no IVR messages...

Ross,
i would look at the file permissions at-least asterisk chmod 644.

Any Good

Neither worked. Changed permissions to asterisk:asterisk, and chmod 664, but still nothing.

Ross,
i don't know where swift reads from, i have used it before but can't remember. can you post CLI output?

Swift works now. The only thing not working now is the IVR messages, and the other announcements.
Anyway, the CLI is attached.
Ignore the HTML for Caller ID. I am working on that now, and that may be the reason that my PBX is crashing every time I (but not others...) call in.
