Any good/inexpensive hosted pbx software outthere (like packet8 style)

I realized that with my last question, I may not have used the proper terminology.

I was talking with someone, and they are interested in starting their own hosted pbx business (where customers pay per extension, etc... Not where they are rent space for their own pbx like rentpbx).

The question, is there inexpensive software out there that allows such controls, and will limit what the end user is able to change? For example, they should only be able to change recordings, etc.. but not trunks or add extensions.

Preferably the system would allow multiple extens 100's on the same box.

I looked at a2billing, but that looks like it just allows different seperate full fledged pbx's to connect to same trunk, etc...

You can use virtualisation to create multiple PBX systems for your customers and use FreePBX.

FreePBX is not designed as a Multi-Tenant system, and my experience is that when you have more than a small handful of customers it starts to get difficult to administer, so I could not recommend the approach of hosting multiple customers on one instance of FreePBX. I know it is possible, but it is a bodge.

You may look at BlueBox, which I have to admit I have only looked at briefly, but looks interesting - http://www.2600hz.org/ I'm sure the authors would be happy to offer consultancy on this, and it does multi-tenanting,

There is also Thirdlane, which although they have free version controlled via a Webmin module, it is limited in its functionality, so they have commercial version.

Any of the above can trunk calls to A2Billing for billing and rating the calls on a (usually) separate server.
