I was looking for a VPS with storage when I came across this VPS provider in Switzerland.

The prices are incredible.

Examples:

2GB RAM /120GB/2 cores/1TB bandwidth for 3.70 CFH ($4) a month

2GB RAM/2 Cores/4TB storage/4TB bandwith for 15CFH ($16) a month

I don't know if you need to be in Switzerland; I'm using Flipperhost for my email server and a jitsi server as well as a third machine which runs my son's Steam games and minecraft.

https://www.flipperhost.com/billing/cart.php?a=add&pid=209

The specs are:

125 GB RAID-10 Disk Space SSD
4096 MB Dedicated RAM
4096 MB vSwap RAM
1 X Free IP
10000 GB Premium Bandwidth
4 cores of Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2690 v2 @ 3.00GHz

Not sure what the default port speed is, but they will bump it to 300 upon request.
My speedtest-cli shows
289.9 Mbits/s Download
925.97 MBits/s Upload

Paid annually it's $4.92/month

They have additional SSD space as an extra, but I have no idea how it is priced.

Have you had to deal with support any? How was that experience?

Considering them for reseller hosting but twice I've tried to hit them up on the live chat and both times (even though it says they are online) I haven't gotten an answer.

I've had several issues. Both fatal (in a sense). The first time, they had a complete, nonrecoverable hardware failure on their 'RAID' system. Fortunately I had a backup (this was my email server). It took them a 2-3 days to set up a new machine.

The second time they decided to fully move their data site which resulted in brand new IP addresses for all my machines. This meant that my email server had to 'regain' the trust it had built with Google, MicroSoft, etc.

Since these, it's all worked. I get an occasional slowdown - likely from somebody hogging the node - but it gets resolved.

I do all of my support issues as tickets; I find that while the answers aren't instantaneous, they are fast enough (other than the 2 failures a few years ago).

I have 3 VPS with them - a game server for my son running MineCraft and 3 other things, a mail server and a Jitsi server. Given that I haven't moved, I guess I'm still happy. They seem to have worked all the kinks out.

If you don't mind, what's a typical repsponse time on a ticket (first response) and on subsequent answers each time you reply?

Do you find them asking you questions that you already included info for in the original post or that were already answered, thereby dragging out requests?

I've had vendors with like issues which is why I ask. When you tie that to a laggy response time (measured in terms of like half days) then a "simple" fix turns into a 5 day email volley and it's impossible ot really get anything done.

Reseller hosting is for hosting my clients' websites (and sometimes simple email). So if there's a problem I'm usually stuck between the client and the host, and if resolution is prolonged by dumb or useless interactions it becomes really painful.

thx.

On the email, I run iRedMail - you could host them all via one install on one VPS.

It’s usually a few hours for reply/resolution - such as a reverse DNS setting.

For the most part it has been set it and forget it.

Other than their hardware failure everything has been +/- solved within a day.

I was with a company which uses SSD Nodes after I saw the recommendation on here. It runs an email server. It was a bumpy ride with them for a while as the VPS kept going down two to three times a week. I kept complaining, but they were not responding very well about that. They finally fixed it. It has stayed up ever since.

I decided to also use them for iRedMail. Bumpy start also, but it's been up always since then. When I joined them, they just started adding free daily backups (one or two weeks of?). I went with their lower performing three year plan for only $150.

I may use them again for another better perfoming service I may need in the near future.

Definitely like the flipperhost system specs compared to Marbell. Also flipperhost has multiple locations in the US instead of your system being located in Europe.

Thanks for your perspective.
Not sure they're any better than a lateral move from where I am, maybe even a step down.

Still bothered that both times I reached out on their sales/support chat I never ever got a response.

Given that you can get a case hardened system for $5 per month from at least a couple of vendors, ask yourself can you afford the cost of failure of another YAVMP (yet another virtual machine provider) , historically please acknowledge that the cheaper the rate the shorter the survival and the lower the support level.

a) I don’t believe that they are US based
B) try an email to [email protected]

Andrew
I may. It's not that critical. I see they are a part of a "group" (Invest Lion) and I'll want to know more about who they are first too. Many "groups" have ruined many a great host (stink eyein' especially you EIG)

I should clarify I wasn't looking at them for VPS or voip. I was looking at their webhosting reseller plans; whole different ball of wax (and using for whole diff. purposes.)

I noticed they have reseller plans so was curious how their support was. Always lookig for a webhost as the space moves too fast sometime. Great today, hot garbage tomorrow.

Special shoutouts to the mother of webhost destroyers EIG.

dicko, I'm not associated with flipperhost - just a customer.

They've been around, however, since at least 2009. Longevity enough to not be labeled "short survival".

Andrew

No argument with your particular case, my observation was more general for the other 95% 'here today , thanks for your money, I'm off to the Bahamas tomorrow" guys, of which these fora are littered with such tales.
