Area Code not available

I'm from the very same area you are. You won't find a VoIP provider selling services in the 807 area code. Same goes for the Tbay area. They will sell you a DID for a hunting group of lines you would already have..but not a true DID. Only option is to use a gateway device such as a SPA or TDM card and plug an analog link into. I live off an SPA-3102 and my home pstn line plugged into it with a few trunks out to other providers in Canada.
If you get this message, I might be able to suggest an organization that may be able to sell you a DID in the 737 exchange. I'll wait for your response...

I turned off all the notifications on the m3's, they beep and bop a lot. ;)

I've got a spa-3000 running now as my gateway to Bell. I find the clarity a bit low when on it. Not sure yet if its the location of the base and one of the remote m3's.

I would be interested in who might be able to get me a 737 exchange number. Let me know here or via PM.

...thought harder about it, depending on if this is for home use or institution use, there is the option of a PRI via Bell. I don't know if they sell less than a full channel T1 PRI but it would be worth asking. Then you can put local #'s (Bell DID's) on it. This would be a digital circuit.
We use Cisco gateways in some cases and they handle analogue lines quite well, but you definitely don't need to go that far. The Sangoma's are good too.

807 DIDs

I see that Vonage Canada provides 807 DIDs... No idea if it's a local Thunder Bay number, but it probably is. Just get a softphone account and use it with your PIAF!

(I'd like a DID in Charlottetown, and Vonage seems to be the only one there also)

Odd. I just looked at Vonage and it said they didn't offer 807 DIDs. How did you find it?

Likely the only way you'll ever be able to affordably purchase an 807 DID, is if some 3rd party purchases a large bank of them from Bell on a PRI, and sells them off 1 by 1.
There just doesn't seem to be enough demand in a small area for this yet.

Bell has minimum quantity requirements and they don't price it so that people can purchase on a small scale.
