One of the cable providers in my system is converting to IPV6 connections. It is not clear to me whether my system can handle these connections, or will I be forced to upgrade? I am running the 1.4.41 version of Asterisk, FreePBX 2.9.0.15, and Travelin Man 3 for the whitelist and Dynamic IP.

Can anyone clarify this for me?

Thanks,
Richard

Thanks for the notes and the links. I have two possible issues though - the first is that your link refers to Asterisk 1.8 and I am running 1.4.41. The second is that my PBX is hosted by RentPBX, and so there is no router between the PBX and the Internet, so any extension coming from an IPv6 address will have to be accommodated directly by the PBX

Actually, when I thought about this some more, it became clear that this will not be an issue in the short term. The IPv6 is only between the local provider and the user, because the rest of the world still has to be accessible through IPv4 connections. The only thing I have lost for the moment is DDNS update, and I think I can deal with that by using a router with Tomato, which can be made to use the external IP regardless of what is in between it, and the internet.

Thanks for taking the time to consider this with me...

Richard
