asterisk and sangoma t1 with hw echo cancel

I am running asterisk 1.4.21.2 and sangoma A102D in a supermicro system, so far things are running good except for some line quality issue.

occassionally on calls I hear a pronounced hiss and then it goes away, it stays for about 5 or 8 seconds.

on other occassions when i dial out i get a distorted line where inbound audio is hard to understand.....

first of all, is this an echo canceller related problem?

should i be disaling the asterisk canceller and only allow Sangoma's hw echo canceller to operate, or is both enabled the better way to go...

any thoughts or suggestions would be great.
 
I would disable Asterisk's software echo canceller

The Sangoma Wiki has a ton of help with your questions. Their tech support is also top notch. I would go check out their wiki and then if you still have issues, contact their tech support.

When I was trouble shooting our system when it first went online, many of the problems were solved by contacting our service provider as they needed to do some tweaking on their end.
 
whats the correct way to disable the echo canceller in Asterisk?

comment out fxotune in rc.local?
