I'm not sure if this is more appropriate to the endpoint subforum, but I'll post here. Mods feel free to move.
I have been a happy PIAF user for close to a year now, and have learned alot along the way. I am slowly switching some of my family over to VoIP (and possibly one tech-savvy brother to PIAF) so we may make G722 calls for free. It has been a great ride so far
My kids are getting old enough to be left home alone, so need to be able to operate the Yealink T26P Corded Phone that my wife won't touch. I am surprised at how attached to her iPhone she has become . . .
They can do the basic "call mom" using DID, but I would like to polish it up a bit with phonebook and maybe some softkeys. I bought it on general principle as I believe there should always be a phone available that is nailed down and can't be run through the washing machine or misplaced like iPhone and Android SIP phones, our primary endpoints.
Basic configuration for two DID is set up. I would like to know how to integrate Microsoft Outlook contacts with this phone. Possibly importing contacts to the Asterisk Phonebook would be a good start? I see that there is an Asterisk Phonebook module in FreePBX. Yealink appears to support importing directly to the phone, but it only brought in the first 12 contacts or so. Didn't seem to work quite right. Given that our 'system' is already configured to sync via gmail from outlook to the softphones, I would like to implement something that can use the phonebook from either source. I think those of us who don't pay for Microsoft Exchange often use Outlook sync'd to Gmail.
Any ideas? Is there any reason I should consider getting involved in endpoint managers for a single Yealink phone?
