Blank CallerID Name problem

I'm having problems with blank caller id names.
Recently switched to a hosted server at rentpbx.com running FreePBX 2.8.0.3 (all working well except for this problem), before this I was running PBXIAF 2.8.0.2 on my own server (with very unreliable ISP which is why the switch).
I think everything is configured same as before, but problem I have is a lot of incoming calls with no name just seem to send " " whereas in my old setup it seemed to send number as name, if name was unavailable. This seems to really confuse my home phone - if there's no CID name it just gives up and doesn't display any info.
Just looking in FreePBX call logs, this is from my old server
"613929XXXX" <613929XXXX> is sent
but on the rentpbx server what sends is
" " <613929XXXX>
Blank name sent so no CID displays on my phone. Any way to change this (or if it is a blank name send "unknown" or similar)??

Have you tried installing the Caller ID Superfecta module? This will stick an N/A in the field if the name is blocked which your phones might like more. Do a search on this forum for instructions. It's easy. Just dont' forget to set the password.

already have Superfecta module, sorry I should have said that earlier. Same version, same data sources, on both servers, both give same results using the debug test for a number lookup.

Dunno then. I only use 2.6 and 2.7, so maybe it's a 2.8 "feature". There seems to be a couple of those "features" in 2.8 so far.

Thanks, but no luck there either.
I removed Can411 but still same result. I'll do some serious digging through Asterisk logs and see if I can figure out exactly whats happening

I did remove it but maybe i'll just disable Superfecta for now and see if there's any change. I just don't get why the difference between running my own server and hosted server with same versions can behave so differently
