I want to set up a ring group to be two or three extensions, but treat it as one extension when called from another extension. Can someone help me with this configuration?

Thanks

I don't really understand what you want. If you just want to create one number that calls a bunch of others, use the Ring Group module in FreePBX and dial the code that you assign it to ring the phones.

Duh! For some reason, I was thinking that the ring group number had to be something different than a normal extension number. "Engage brain before keyboard" would be a good rule for the future.

Thanks,
Richard

It might be helpful to plan things out ahead of time, rather than put all the ring groups together and the extensions somewhere else.

For example, our help desk folks have extensions 5001-5060 currently. Their ring group therefore would be 5000.

Field service's ring group is 5200, and the extensions are 5201-5217.

For us, ring groups are xx00, and extensions are xx01-xx99 for a given function, group, department.

Makes it easier to remember, I think.
