I'm thinking of moving over to PiaF from TB the only thing I would really miss is having the caller info pop up on my computer and more importantly the ability to dial from in Outlook.

I know its possible to install Hudlite but I'd rather not, maybe Hudlite 3 will change my mind but until its released who knows.

Ive looked around and see a few options but non seem too reliable, any suggestions ?

I use iSymphony

and I quite like it. The guys at i9technologies are fairly accessible too.

I forgot to mention I'm just a home user so most of the features of Hudlite or iSymphony are unwanted, having said that I've looked at the iSymphony website many times and can't see any mention of Outlook integration ?

Ive got used to my mobile and Outlook synchronising and using outlook as my phonebook then just clicking to dial.

search for Bicom in this forum.

I used to use www.snapanumber.com but the new version is about 12 months overdue and there are a lot of problems with vista and Outlook 2007.

So Bicom Outcall is the way to go.

For commercial installs I use the open fire server with the asterisk integration & spark as the client.

I also use a soft phone in addition to my hard phone. I tend not to take calls on my soft phone, it is just handy for when I am on the phone already to see the pop up that it provides :)

Ward also published a popup program some time ago, it just didn't integrate with out;look from memory. But it was very good!

The funny thing is that when a call comes in I have three pop ups!

One little tip though,
When any install directions asks you to make a change to the manager.conf, don't
follow the instructions but use manager_custom.conf instead, make sure you create a new user & password and don't use admin. FreePBX now overwrites manager.conf when upgrading (at least it did for me going to 2.5)

I did like Snapanumber but it seemed the project may have been abandoned, I looked at Outcall but couldn't find anyone saying it worked successfully, just a lot of people with problems.

I forgot about the softphone, I use Eyebeam mainly for a easy way to keep track of missed calls. I imported my contacts from Outlook with no problem but incoming calls still show as a number rather than the name associated with it. :confused5:

I remember trying U-Rang when it first came out but it gave me no more than the Eyebeam popup.

I'll try Outcall.

Hudlite looks good, what are some of your concerns with this software ?

Outcall seems to be what I wanted, it took a few minutes to get it running and it seems to work fine so far, a few minor niggles but I'll either get used to them or find a way to iron them out.

Nothing really too much wrong with Hudlite, I could see it being a very handy thing but most of the features were no good to me (just a simple home setup), that and it slowing the start up of my computer horribly and it malfunctions fairly regularly. Theres a new version out soon, maybe it will be hugely improved but for what I got out of it, it was more effort than it was worth (to me) to install it on PiaF, I really wanted something that suited my needs better.

One major Hudlite problem I see some business users complain about is the inability to hide extensions, so the sales force or whatever can see who the CEO is phoning.

I like outcall...

There are some good features, like the ability to edit the number for dial, ie add a "dial prefix" to the number (force a channel) or make allowances for the fact that your mobile/cell expects +1z... rather than 001... etc etc.

As for Ward's app. urang. it works a treat, I used it for ages. It is just that the current version does not seem to have the feature set that us Microsoft slaves need :)

If you use Aastra phones - Aastra just came out with myaastra.com which installs 'WebApps' on your phone with a single click.

They also have a desktop phone dialer that integrates with outlook. Very cool stuff that was just released.

Been running outcall in our office for a couple of months, and I haven't heard any complaints...except for a couple of computers I recently upgraded and forgot to install it...then I heard complaints that it wasn't there.

I have outcall running on several XP Pro SP3 machines as well as my Vista x64 SP1 computer. It does seem to integrate better with Outlook 2007 than it does with the computers here that still have outlook 2003 on them.

I hadn't heard of Hudlite though, it looks like it's more feature rich, I'm going to look into it some more.
