OK, now I'm a bit upset. I have a 1.2 version that has been running fine for, well, however long 1.2 has been out. Today I try to log into the gui and it immediately pops to a screen asking the admin password. It never asks for a username, just the admin password. Nothing has worked. I ran the passwd-??? scripts, and still no go. WTF?

could be anything I am afraid. What exactly were you trying to log into? FreePBX, The kennonsoft menu? you really have not provided enough information. Have you done any freepbx updates recently how about ran update-source. What is the output from status?

I am trying to log into FreePBX. You get the main screen first, then when I click on "Administration" instead of the username/password window that used to pop up, it now goes to a complete page asking for the admin password. A week ago or so when I ran the update-XXX scripts it made a security comment that it had changed from database type authentication and from then on I had to use "maint" and <password> to log in. It worked fine. Now all of a sudden it changed to this. I have not run any of the update-XXXX scripts since last week.

OK. I figured it out. It has something to do with the menu configuration. I found the ../welcome/index.dat file and it contained a password. Have not idea where it came from but it got me into the next menu screen which then I could click on the FreePBX admin and get the user/pwd window I was looking for. Have no idea why the menu is now asking for a password tho...

Yup that would do it. We don't modify anything to do with the kennonsoft menu. You could have always typed http://youripaddress/admin which would have gotten you to freepbx. Update fixes forced the closure of a very large hole in freepbx (we add .htaccess) but don't touch kennonsoft.
